"I wish I were brave like you."
(I wish I had a dollar for every time someone has said that to me). Here is the thing about bravery: it's about mindset. The key to being brave is to know what is truly important to you. That means taking time to know yourself and understand your values. For me, I've been shaped by ideas like these:
Self-reliance is vital to getting what we want. Although others may help, ultimately, we've got to do the heavy lifting on our own.
The challenge we face never looks nearly as fearsome once we've surmounted it.
Entering a situation with the faith that a solution is possible, will increase our odds of success.
If we try and don't win, it's okay as long as we learn something.
So when it looks like I'm brave, it's because I'm determined, focused, confident, and always ready to learn.
