Hey there! I must admit, with everything that's going on in the world because of COVID-19, it could be easy to slip into a negative mindset that says there is nothing but bad luck out there today. I'm not going to do that. If you're looking for doom and gloom, you're not my people.
Instead, let's talk about the value of a positive mental attitude. I live in a tall tower condo, surrounded by people, some of whom I don't know. Some are wearing masks. Some are being cavalier about standing too close. Many have to ride up and down together in a tiny metal box (the elevator) just to leave the building. (Yes, there are stairs, but some people are unable to use those, and others are too worried about losing their gym privileges to consider taking the stairs...sigh). Despite everything that is going on, I know that #AttitudeIsAltitude.
Why am I so sure about that? Because in the past few days I have seen some incredible acts of kindness. The staff in our building keep coming to work, when they have families and, I am sure, would sometimes rather be at home. One of them called over the weekend with ideas for how to increase safety for our residents during the pandemic. Neighbours are looking out for neighbours, asking if they need anything as they go out to run errands or pick up essentials. Conversations are going on in communities. And even business people are continuing to introduce themselves, without pressure, to simply ask, "How can I be of service?"
My grandmother lived to be a hundred. She was feisty and resilient. I plan to be likewise. That means I need to work out those muscles now - so I have them if something even worse comes along. So if I can help you in some way to develop your positive attitude, please reach out. I'm happy to have a conversation. The luck is in us. It's up to us to find it.
